Ko Oishi

Ko Oishi has extensive experience in the field of permaculture, organic farming and environmental consultancy. Having received formal training in environmental science, He proceeded to further his practical skills in permaculture and organic farming. During this period of time between 2009 and 2014, Ko has undertaken a number of internships, including at Milkwood and Renge Organic Farm in Japan.

He continued his training in organic farming through undertaking a Cert III in Production Horticulture (Organic) at Wollongbar Tafe, whilst working at an organic farm in Northern NSW. To maintain his passion for growing food, Ko has been involved with Northey Street City Farm predominantly as a market gardener, and facilitator of workshops on Miso making, volunteer liaison and cob oven making

For the past two years, Ko has worked as an Ecologist for an environmental consultancy company managing many projects such as assessment of post-mined rehabilitation sites, bush regeneration sites, threatened flora survey, and ground-truthing of vegetation types in Queensland.

Ko also undertook a cert I in Zen Shiatsu with Michie Araki in 2010, and continued his studies in Zen Thai Shiatsu with Gwyn Williams in 2013. With the understanding of conscious body movement, traditional fermentation, permaculture and environmental science, Ko fuses these disciplines together to create a deeper, holistic approach to alternative living.

Coming from an activist background, he bridges the gap between frontline action, consultancy and public awareness. Ko is passionate about sharing knowledge and skills and sincerely believes that through sharing, we can create an alternative reality and move closer to a more harmonious relationship with the planet.
